The region is the result of an Arab-Berber mix that reflected in the crafts, cuisine and architecture. A prime example of the latter would be the fortified earth attic circular village of Sidi Moussa. These ancient granaries characterize the rural life of the area. The people, pastoralists and farmers, have engaged in the production of honey, oil, nuts and cheese. Associations and women's cooperatives together several villages are open to the public. Cascades Ouzoud
The area around Azilal and more generally the central Upper Atlas lends itself to ecotourism. Thanks to a preserved and magnificent scenery. Some examples: 36 km west of Azilal, Ouzoud waterfalls gush, an exceptional site. A drop of 100 m flows in the middle of a lush abyss. The river continues its path 2km to the deep gorges of Oued El Abid (400 m). Other fantastic natural spectacles, pretty Arous gorges of Agouti at the entrance to the valley of Ait Bouguemez, or bridge of Imi-n-Ifri, near Demnate. A gigantic stone arch carved by the river Mahseur and under which hundreds of stalactites hang.
